Photoelectric UBV photometry of T Tauri stars is presented. For some of the stars, rapid fluctuations in the ultraviolet in less than half an hour are observed. For the latter observations, power spectra of the variations are obtained. The power in general shows an increasing trend toward low frequencies. In one star, DR Tau, in the frequency interval of 0.1 to about 2 cycles per minute, it can be established that the power goes as the inverse 5/3 power of the frequency. The photometric variations of a Tauri star can be explained by a model where on the surface of the star there exist many fluctuating hot regions which are distributed as the inverse alpha power of the intensity which they emit. Analyses of both the statistical properties of random observations and the power spectra indicate that alpha has a value of approximately 3.
