The Jovian Trojan asteroids appear fundamentally different from the majority of main belt asteroids. They formed in a different region, they are of different composition, and their collisional history is likely different. We propose to investigate the rotational periods of 9 small (D ≤ 40 km) Trojan asteroids in the L5 regions using the 4- meter telescope. One class of asteroids commonly found among the Trojans, the P objects, show anomalous behavior with phase angle: they do not appear to have a brightness surge near zero phase. We will investigate the rotational properties of five brighter Trojans primarily from the other common compositional class (D objects) and remove the effects of the lightcurve variations to obtain the phase curves.
