Investigations into the instrumental characteristics of the European Southern Observatory (ESO) fast photometer (outlined in Paper 1) are discussed in relation to data for the red dwarf binary, Gliese 897AB. The K-band data for this star and two comparison stars from 11/12 November 1993 at sub-second time resolution were available from the 1 meter IR telescope. The photometeric data were searched for intrinsic rapid variations down to 5 Hz. There is no evidence of stellar periodicity in the range 0.2 s to 10 s sustained for one minute.
