X Per has been studied photometrically in the U band with time resolutions of 1 and 0.5 s. Absorption features of duration of tens of seconds and depth of about 0.2-0.3 mag have been observed. Trains of these features occur with typical time scales of 60-70 s. Similar features have never been observed in comparison stars, but the possibility that the observed variability is atmospheric in origin cannot be definitely excluded.
