Photometry from the DIRBE instrument on COBE is examined to discern the Z height of the Sun with respect to the mean galactic stellar and dust symmetry surfaces. Study of ten spectral bands covering 1-240 micrometers allows independent determinations at many wavelengths. The results are compared to optical studies of the solar elevation. The COBE program is supported by the Astrophysics Division of NASA's Office of Space Science and Applications.
