There is a great dispersion in light curves of type II supernovae in both temporal duration and in the slopes of different portions. Our idea is to find a photometric parameter in order to discriminate the degree of plateau or linear of type II supernovae. To do this we have created a visual light curve template of type IIp supernovae using SN 99em V light curve, then we fit this light curve template to our sample of V filter photometry without K-corrections of 40 near supernovae. We use 3 parameters to fit the template to the sample, one parameter is used to stretch template in magnitute, the second parameter is used to stretch the template in temporal duration, and the third parameter is used to set the inflexion point of the template. We also estimate MV 50 days before the inflexion point of the fitted template, and measure the initial and final decline rates for each supernovae in our sample. In this preliminary work we haven't found any clear correlation between the fitted parameters, but we found a clear bimodal distribuion in the initial slopes, and also we measure an average final decline rate ˜ 0.01 mag/day.
