We determine zero-points for the theoretical calculation of SDSS ugriz
magnitudes. A two-color diagram u-g vs. g-r is then used to show that
the average surface gravity of DA white dwarfs in the SDSS data release
4 does not increase below 12000 K, if determined from photometry instead
of spectra.
