Eclipsing Binaries

Scientific paper

The eclipsing binary YY Coronae Borealis is a short-period contact system of the W UMa type (sub-type A) and one of the systems with a great potential for providing a combined photometric and spectroscopic solution. Using WD and FOTEL codes we reanalyzed the system, and applied a spotted model to treat the asymmetry of the light curve. The results show that the more massive component is cooler than the less massive with ΔT˜100K. The system is an overcontact one with fill-out factor approximately equal to 64% and distance to the system 88±7 pc.
