Two photoelectric UBV sequences have been defined in the areas of the adjacent open clusters NGC 1496 and NGC 1513 respectively. This allowed to calibrate fifteen photographic plates and to obtain RGU magnitudes of stars previously selected in the vicinity of both clusters. NGC 1496 is located at a distance of 1230 pc from the Sun and its colour excess is E(G-R) = 0m.63. NGC 1513 is located at 1320 pc from the Sun and its colour excess is E(G-R) = 0m.93. Both clusters present an evolutionary effect as the brighter stars are leaving the main sequence.
