Seventeen of the 24 variables in Coma, announced by Archer (1959), were observed in Feb., and Mar. 1984, with an UBV photometer attached to the 91 cm reflector at McDonald Observatory and a V colour photometer attached to the 35 cm reflector at Yunnan Observatory. The identifications of the observed stars are listed in Table 1 and shown in Fig. 1. The results are drawn in Fig. 2.
No variation larger than 0m.07 in V magnitude was found for any of these stars, and we arrived at the conclusion that No. 3, 4, 7, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, and 23 are not variables, though classified as such by Archer, for our successive observations for each one covered an interval longer than a half period given by Archer.
The authors are greatly indebted to McDonald Observatory for scheduled telescope time on this work.
