Visual magnitude estimates of Uranus and Neptune have been analysed to search for periodicities in the variation. Periods related to the Earth's sidereal rotation and the planet's synodic year predominate together with those of the synodic and sidereal lunar month. Secondary periods are noted which do not coincide with the solar sunspot cycle for the data sets considered. However the Uranus 8.4-year atmospheric period reported during the 1950s appears confirmed - though with a period of 8.86 years during the period of study.
