The motion of a spherical artificial earth satellite traveling in the equatorial plane and subject to the normal gravitational field is considered. It is assumed that the perturbations which are not due to the earth's oblateness are small. The Liapunov-Siegel theorem is used to demonstrate the existence of two families of periodic solutions near the steady motion of the satellite. The solutions are presented in the form of d'Alembert series.
