A description is presented of observations of the sun near the spring equinox in 1975 and 1976, and near the fall equinox in 1976. The observations were made with the aid of a five-element interferometer. A prominent phenomenon regarding the velocity field of the photosphere is considered. This phenomenon is related to an oscillatory fluctuation with a 5 minute temporal period, associated with a scale size of about 1 to 10 arcseconds. The question of whether the 5 minute oscillations are a significant source of heating of the chromosphere and corona does not appear to be settled. There is no doubt that brightness fluctuations exist in both chromosphere and corona, but they do not appear to have an oscillatory nature.
