The evolutionary period changes to be expected in dwarf Cepheids have been calculated for the cases in which (1) they are normal population I stars evolving away from the main sequence or (2) they are population II stars in an advanced stage of evolution, evolving toward the white dwarf state. These calculated period changes have then been compared with observed period changes in eight stars, including two stars (BS Aqr and VZ Cnc) for which new compilations of times of maximum light were made. For most of the stars, this comparison does not provide any definite information on the evolutionary stage of the stars, but for one or two of the stars, the population I stage seems more likely.
