Variations of the north-south asymmetry of solar cosmic rays and their
limits of penetration into the polar caps are examined on the basis of
Prognoz-6 and Intercosmos-17 satellite data for October 12, 1977. The
time variations of proton intensity in interplanetary space are compared
with variations of proton intensity in the polar caps.
