It is pointed out that the study of the high-luminosity stars in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is of particular interest in connection with the fact that the stars can be observed at positions which lie within a few arc minutes of their points of origin. By utilizing Cepheids with an age in the range from 10 to 100 million years, an attempt can be made to trace the distribution of older stars. Since a period-age relation is available, it is possible to investigate the relative position of objects of differing age. By making use of the considered approach, it was possible to confirm the density-wave nature of the spiral arms and the concentration of young stars in an annular zone around the center of the Galaxy and M31. Information regarding the peculiarities of the Cepheid distribution in the LMC provides a basis for conclusions regarding the history and the character of the star formation process in an irregular galaxy.
