The evolution of oblate spheroids in uniform expanding backgrounds is investigated. An approximate solution which is valid for density contrast lower than 10 is derived. It is found that the value of the cosmological density, determined from a Virgocentric flow model, can be appreciably different from that determined from the present spheroidal model.
