The world of astronomy can celebrate 2008 as the centenary of Pasiphae's discovery. What is so special about it? It is the first “retrograde” moon of Jupiter to be discovered. Hence from this discovery, we stared considering prograde and retrograde moons. Can one write the equation of orbital velocity of a moon, simply by equating the gravitational force with the centripetal force and disregarding the direction of motion - that is anticlockwise or clockwise? We can not do this, especially in view of the educational problems of the last about 40 years. These problems will be discussed in the present lecture.
