Scientific paper
We propose two observing runs for the Parkes 300-900 MHz Rotation Measure Survey. This surveys forms a key part of the Global Magneto-Ionic Medium Survey (GMIMS), a spectro-polarimetric survey of the diffuse polarized emission of the entire sky comprising six component surveys. The main science goals of the project are to improve our understanding of the morphology of the local MIM, the disk-halo transition, interstellar turbulence, the large-scale Galactic magnetic field, and the origin of objects only seen in polarization. A new 300-900 MHz receiver will be used, designed and built for this survey at DRAO in Canada. We ask for 28 nights.
