Recent literature presented at the URSI Open Symposium 2 on August 30, 31, 1984 concerning nonlinear wave interaction processes excited in the near-earth space plasma by strong HF pumps is examined. Ionospheric modification experiments studying stimulated electromagnetic emission and the development of sidebands from HF waves are discussed. The measurement of HF enhanced ion and plasma lines by analyzing power spectra and the measurement of ionospheric modifications using sounding rockets are described.
