Astrophysical fluid dynamics simulations are computationally intensive, but can benefit from conversion to a structure that can run on computers that have a parallel architecture with 10 or more processors all working on the same program. We present and apply a general technique to parallelize an existing SPH serial code that was designed to model accretion disks in cataclysmic variable systems on serial machines. In our trials, we were able to decrease the wall-clock time for execution, but at the expense of significant computational resources. This work was supported in part by the National Science Foundation through grants AST-0097616 (REU Site Program) and AST-0205902 (SAA), and by the National Computational Science Alliance under grant AST010008Nr02 utilizing the SGI Origin 2000 system.
