Hipparcos data have been obtained under the 1982 AO for one to seven examples of the following classes of stars: R CrB variables, cataclysmic binaries, runaway T Tauris, FK Comae stars, high velocity B stars, FG Sge stars, and Wolf Rayet binaries. Not all of the distances (luminosities) and proper motions (transverse velocities) are close to what was expected, though we have reason to believe that SS Cygni was not correctly identified, and this may not be a unique case. Access to data on other, similar stars and on other stars in the same regions of sky will be necessary before the significance of the numbers can be fully appreciated, but preliminary results will be presented.
