During the last opposition period the asteroid Eros came closer to earth than at any other time since its discovery on August 13, 1898. The close distance between earth and Eros made it possible for the amateur to conduct parallax measurements of a celestial body. The approaches used for the parallax studies are discussed, taking into account the reports of three amateur astronomers.
