The LISA V Panel Discussion revealed the fact that the library community is not the only group concerned about the future of publishing. Nor are they the only ones who have more questions than answers on what the future holds. The usual differences between the for-profit and not-for-profit publishing sectors remain, but the common thread expressed by all the representatives was that the future was an unknown except for the fact that changes will occur. Another common bond is the feeling that the end user is driving the change process and demanding more. The conclusion is that this is a revolutionary time for the publishing industry and the LISA V participants are experiencing it first-hand.
