Steady synchrotron self Compton models are studied, assuming a constant injection of power law relativistic particles in a compact source embedded in a magnetic field. The produced γ-ray interacts with target photons of lower energies to produce relativistic electron positron pairs which radiatively cool before thermalizing and annihilating. The problem is treated numerically. During the model analysis, the author improves on earlier investigations and computes detailed emergent spectra for a wide range of parameters, and compares his results to the data from active galactic nuclei.
