We are surveying bright Seyfert 2 galaxies for broad hydrogen lines in the infrared, with the goal of determining how common are ``hidden'' broad-line regions in Seyfert 2s, and how large are the optical depths of the tori which obscure them in the optical. We discuss data from UKIRT, KPNO, and UH on the Pabeta line in 15 Seyfert 2s. Dust optical depths are a factor of 3 lower at Pabeta than at Hα , allowing us to see through more of the obscuring tori. We have found that using a high resolution (R = 1250) helps us interpret the data better. For example, we have confirmed the broad lines (BLs) seen in NGC 2992 and MCG -05.23.16. At R = 1250 narrow lines (NLs) are clearly resolved from the BLs. In Mrk 463E the BL has a smaller velocity width, 1800 km s(-1) (comparable to that measured via spectropolarimetry in the optical), but still has a distinct BL. In NGC 5506, previously reported to have broad Pabeta , we find no evidence for a BL. Instead, it appears that the high-velocity wings of the NL are more highly reddened than the core. Further, the NL profile is more lorentzian than gaussian, leading gaussian fitting routines to mistakenly identify a weak BL component. Most of the Seyfert 2s studied did not, however, show BLs at Pabeta . This includes objects known to have BLs in polarized light in the optical, such as Mrk 3 and Mrk 477. Future work should move to longer wavelengths; at K we gain another factor of 3 in optical depth.
