The [O I] λ6300.311 Å line was observed in 20 halo giants, using a CCD detector. Synthetic spectra are computed to obtain the oxygen abundance, where allowance is made for CO association. It is found that oxygen is overabundant relative to iron in the halo stars, confirming previous investigations. A mean value of [O/Fe] ≅ +0.35±0.15 is obtained in this work.
