Results are reported from laboratory determinations of the oscillator strengths of bands in the CN red system, along wth a rechecking of previously obtained violet values. Absorption measurements were made of the spectra generated by heating a carbon sample resistively in a high temperature furnace into which was bled nitrogen gas. Separate detectors were used to measure the red and the violet spectra simultaneously during the trials. The equivalent widths of the spectral lines were calculated to derive the associated oscillator strengths. The results of the measurements and the associated calculated values are tabulated, along with the statistically determined error values. A consistency is noted for the oscillator strength lifetimes in both the red and violet regimes.
