Oscillator strengths of 19 lines of neutral nitrogen, belonging to 9 multiplets in the 950-1200 A spectral range are measured in emission with a wall-stabilized arc. The measured relative gf-values are normalized to an absolute scale based on lifetime data of the upper levels of the N I 1199.9 A multiplet. The uncertainty achieved in the measured absolute gf-values is at the 10 percent level. Comparisons with laboratory data and theoretical results show that oscillator strength values of the allowed resonance multiplets are now established with an accuracy of about 5 percent; but, on some individual lines of these multiplets, rather large discrepancies remain.
