A mathematical vibration model of the elevation portion of turning-head antennas is presented using the principle of virtual displacement. Numerical solutions of the lowest natural frequencies are discussed in conjunction with the parameters of a 30 m radiotelescope designed by the Max Planck Institut. The influence of the essential structural rigidities on the natural frequencies is investigated.
