We considered carefully the action of ortho-H2O in the energy equilibrium process of molecular clouds and compared its heating rate Γ (ortho-H2O) with the heating rate by dust-gas collision, Γ (dust-gas), and the total cooling rate of the gas Λgas. We found that, for a cloud with temperature TK = 20 K, if the dust temperature is 35 K, Γ (ortho-H2O) will catch up with Λgas when n(H2) > 104 cm-3, and if the dust temperature is 40 K, it will do so for a density as low as 102 - 103 cm-3. Thus, the water molecule does indeed strengthen the coupling between the gas and the dust. We have also compared the effects on the calculated results due to differences in the collisional cross-section, dust emission, velocity gradient and water abundance.
