We present a semi-analytical method to try to understand how the initial density profile of cold dark matter halos is altered through violent relaxation. By modeling a region of dark matter overdensity as a spherically symmetric cloud of particles, we study the infall of the particles in discretized concentric shells. Our simulation tracks the crossings of the shells and updates the dynamical quantities thereat to obtain the final virialized density profile. We investigate the effect of various different initial angular momenta and density profiles on the final density profile.
