Observed and theoretical distributions of the orbital elements of the cometary families of Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are compared, and close agreement is obtained between the distribution curves with respect to the eccentricities, perihelion distances, and inclinations for values of the limiting velocities of eruptions from the surface of the satellites. It is shown that during the 150 year existence of the cometary families, 670 comets should have escaped from the sphere of influence of Saturn, 103 from that of Uranus, 273 from that of Neptune, and 637 from that of Jupiter. The total of comets would come to 1683, which corresponds to a loss of material by the satellites during the existence of the solar system.
