Observations of jets indicate that velocities are v ll{c} for distances from the central source d ll{pc}. v ~0.5{c} for d ~1-100{pc} and v ~{c} for v gg 100{pc}. This indicates acceleration over a distance of 100 pc, until relativistic velocities are atained. Opher and Pereira (1986) and Goncalves et al. (1993) showed that Alfven waves could create jets. We evaluate the energy flux of Alfven waves and the plasma parameters of jets, necessary to explain existing observational data.
