A survey is conducted of the present understanding of the 'atmospheres'
of Mercury and the moon, which present numerous unanswered questions.
These tenuous atmospheres are also transient, with different components
having lifetimes that last from hours up to two weeks; attention is
accordingly given to plausible loss processes.
