We compute the number of orbits of the Borel subgroup of upper triangular
matrices on the variety of complete quadrics. We provide a combinatorial
interpretation and give bounds, using the geometry of wonderful embeddings. We
offer conjectures for a q-analog that generalizes the Eulerian polynomial.
