Minor Planets: Orbit Determination, Star Catalogues: Errors
Scientific paper
The authors obtain an orbit for the asteroid Ceres taking into account all perturbations and applying phase effect corrections to the observations. A total of 3090 observations from 1945 to 1989 have been used and the results agree with other determinations. The authors have also investigated the influence of systematic errors of a star catalogue on the observations and its effect on the final elements. A simulation procedure has been applied to the Ceres observations, including different laws for the errors of the star catalogue versus spherical coordinates.
