In the last several years two blind surveys for high-latitude CO(1-0) emission have been carried out in the northern and southern Galactic hemispheres at Galactic latitudes greater than 30 degrees and less than -30 degrees, respectively. The surveys were sampled every degree using the Harvard-Smithsonian 1.2 meter Millimeter-Wave Telescope in Cambridge, MA. Over 10,000 points were sampled in the northern Galactic hemisphere and over 5000 in the southern Galactic hemisphere. Although both survey were rather sensitive ( 0.1 K rms), the question of how much low-level CO-emission was missed because of sensitivity and beam-dilution issues remains. We discuss methods of addressing these issues and propose an optimal search strategy for high-latitude molecular clouds.
