Attention is given to the problem of the three-axis orientation of a spacecraft and the problem of refining the determination of coordinates and course on the basis of the observation of two reference stars. It is shown that of greatest geometrical and statistical effectiveness is the direct application of the least squares method to estimate the three-dimensional rotation vector according to four deviations from two stars. Results of a numerical study of the accuracy of the solution as a function of the angle between the stars are presented.
