Scientific paper

The paper examines the optimal damping of the nutation of a rotating satellite by means of a symmetrical flywheel having one degree of freedom with respect to the satellite. The nutation damping is effected through a viscous-friction interaction of damper and satellite, with possible involvement of an elastic damping moment. Optimal parameters assuring maximum speed of damping are defined.
