Monochromatic photographs and results of a kinematic study are presented for two unusual regions of the Carina Nebula. The photographs were taken in H-alpha, H-beta, and the forbidden lines of O III (5007 A), N II (6584 A), and S II (6717 to 6731 A). The observed regions included a bright circular ring around the radio peak Car II and bright rims near Car I; both features are found to exhibit small-scale structure and steep variations in excitation conditions. The kinematic study was based on high angular- and spectral-resolution interferograms in H-alpha and the N II forbidden line at 6584 A. The results confirm the existence of nonspherically symmetric expansion throughout the nebula and show that the expansion velocity of the ionized gas is at least 25 km/s.
