This preliminary paper addresses the question of mass driver payload trajectory measurements in lunar material transfers to L2. Previous work on calculations of optimal achromatic trajectories dictates certain accuracy requirements at the mass driver launch site which must be met for passive collection at L2. A design for a laser scanning system is presented which will provide the desired accuracy. An experimental simulation of the system at full launch velocity (2.33 km/sec) is also discussed.
