The efficiency factors for cylindrical two-layer dust grains with silicate and ice mantle are calculated. In the case of dielectric grains, the optical properties of the grain are not strongly influenced by the core if the ratio of the core radius to the mantle radius is less than 0.1. Rayleigh formulas are obtained for the absorption and scattering efficiency factors which can be used to calculate the optical characteristics of core-mantle grains in the infrared region.
