An optical diagnostics system developed for active experiments in near-earth space is described which includes highly sensitive TV and image-converter systems, electrophotometers, and spectral and photographic equipment. The good performance of this system was verified by observations made in active (e.g., artificial aurora) experiments conducted during 1983-1988.
