Inflatable space rigidized structures have been studied to assess their ability to provide 100-m long supporting elements for such orbital optical interferometers. It has been found that such systems could be built and packaged for launch to geostationary orbit by Ariane 5, with specific masses of 0.8-l.8 kg/m. They could be stiff enough to be controllable, but also provide interfaces to the observing telescopes sufficiently clear of vibration at the sensors scanning frequencies.
