The radio galaxy 3C 129, the prototype narrow-tailed source has been observed at 0.6 GHz with the 3 km Westerbork telescope. The total intensity distribution map shows a previously unknown feature at the north-eastern side of the head of 3C 129. At the beginning of this extension, the spectral index is about 2. It is proposed that this steep spectrum component is a relic of enhanced activity in the nucleus of 3C 129 about 4×107 yr previously. On this basis, the existence of the new asymmetric feature is taken as a further evidence for the occurrence of periods of "one-sided" ejection in radio sources.
