Recent analyses of the rise-times of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) have
suggested that there may exist two distinct populations of SNe Ia. In
order to help resolve the controversy, we use the Schwarz Information
Criterion (SIC) to quantify the belief that SN Ia rise-times are best
described by a single-population model versus a two-population model.
