Seyfert Galaxies: Variability

Narrow-line Seyfert 1 (NLS1) galaxies are characterised by the
relatively low projected velocities of their line-emitting nuclear gas.
We describe a spectroscopic programme based on a search for variability,
which attempts to constrain the causes of their difference with respect
to other Seyfert 1 galaxies.
