The plasma stream rising from the base of a magnetic arcade along the magnetic lines of force is studied theoretically in the framework of a dynamic prominence model. The stream velocity is determined by the structure of the emitting region in the arch, and this structure depends on the heat conduction regime along the magnetic field. A simple formula for the upward stream velocity is obtained for the case when the temperture dependence of the longitudinal thermal conductivity has the form Xi = Xi_0 T^5/2. The velocity calculated using this theoretical formula agrees with the upward stream velocity measured for spectral lines in the transition region.
