The stability parameters a, b, c, and d of plane symmetric periodic
solutions for nonintegrable dynamical systems with two degrees of
freedom are obtained in terms of their initial states of motion and
elements of their variational matrices. Explicit formulas are given in
the cases of the Stoermer problem and the restricted three-body problem.
